Saying the city will face many financial woes over the next couple of years, City Comptroller John Liu offered ideas Thursday he said will ease the burden on hard-working New Yorkers.
During his state of the city speech Thursday, Liu, said the Big Apple may face a $2.7 billion gap in the 2014 fiscal year.
“In times like these, it’s not just managing the money – it’s managing the impossible,” he said.
Liu, who’s mulling a run for mayor next year, said he would push the city to raise the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $11.50 an hour over five years and offering the top 10% of public high school graduates free tuition to CUNY colleges.
