A team of New York’s Bravest were able to save a tenant from her Woodside apartment Thursday night as it was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters responded to a 911 call of a fire taking place at a fourth floor apartment on 61st Street around 10 p.m., the FDNY said.
The hallway near the apartment was filled with thick smoke because the door was left open, but the members of FDNY’s Rescue 4 squad were able to make it to the home, according to firefighters.
Once inside, they found the fire was taking place inside the living room and discovered a woman in her 40s unconscious on the floor, the FDNY said. The firefighters got the woman out of the building and she was transported to Elmhurst Hospital for skin and respiratory burns, according to firefighters.
“If she was in there for just a few more minutes, I don’t know if she would have survived,” Battalion 46 Chief Robert McBride said in a statement.
The fire was put out around 10:45 with no other reported injuries, according to the FDNY.
