Police accidentally shot a man and his pit bull during a chase through the streets of Bushwick Tuesday.

A pair of undercover officers sawa drug deal taking place at the corner of Himrod Street and Evergreen Avenue around 11 a.m. when one of the suspects fled on a bicycle, a NYPD spokesman said.

The cops went after the suspect but a 22-year-old man who was innocently walking by with his two pit bulls got in the way, according to the NYPD. The unidentified man somehow lost his grip on the leash and the dogs came after the officers who opened fire at the pets, the police spokesman said.

One bullet struck one of the dogs while another hit the owner in his right leg, according to the NYPD. The man was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition while the dog, whose condition was not released, was taken to the ASPCA.

The suspect, who also wanted identified, was arrested by the officers.
